AgileBits has released 1Password 6.8.6, reimplementing iCloud sync using Apple’s native iCloud framework for faster and more stable synchronization. The update also fixes a bug that prevented viewing of an attachment more than once, ensures that Quick Look windows close when 1Password is locked, and prevents 1Password from requesting rich icons for items with invalid URLs. It was working with Betas but since I updated to Big Sur 11.0.1 It stoped working. I open the ap, put the password and I stays forever like this. Sometime a windows shows something like 'there was a problem connecting to 1password mini'. There's a link to their web saying I must restart OSX but nothing changes. Rolling out 1Password to our employees worldwide was quick and simple, with over 50,000 employees adopting it within the first two weeks alone. Keep your family safe online. The easiest and safest way to share logins, passwords, credit cards and more, with the people that matter most. Go ahead, forget your passwords – 1Password remembers them. I'm currently using Big Sur 20A5374i and 1Password 7.7 BETA-9. I'm constantly prompted to enable the Safari extension, even though it is. I should point out the extension does work, it just prompts this in 1Password.

AgileBits has issued 1Password 7.7 with design refinements for macOS 11 Big Sur (including a new icon) and Safari integration enhancements that include an inline menu that appears when filling in logins, credit cards, and forms. The password manager now enables you to unlock 1Password using an Apple Watch on Macs with a Secure Enclave, improves the Strong Password Generator in the main 1Password editor, scales down and wraps large type for extra-long passwords, resolves an issue where dragging items onto the spring-loaded vault selector would fail, fixes browser integration with Google Chrome Beta and Dev releases, and adds support for administrators to enforce MDM settings for many of the options in Security Preferences. ($64.99 standalone app from AgileBits or the Mac App Store or a $2.99- or $4.99-per-month subscription (TidBITS members setting up new accounts receive 6 months free), free update, 57.5 MB, release notes, macOS 10.13+)

Popular password management service 1Password on Tuesday released a new version of its Mac app with support for macOS Big Sur, adding a number of new features like Apple Watch unlock.

The new mechanism enables 1Password users to unlock their vaults without remembering and manually entering lengthy passcodes. When a user attempts to unlock the app, a notification appears on their Apple Watch. Double-clicking the side button approves the request.

The solution is similar to Apple's own method of approving password requests in macOS.

Any Mac running macOS 10.15 or later with a Secure Enclave — T1 of T2 Security Chip — can take advantage of the feature, meaning Macs with Touch ID and newer laptops and desktops. Additionally, 1Password's Touch ID integration remains and can be used in conjunction with Apple Watch unlock.

Beyond authentication, 1Password version 7.7 integrates inline Safari support for autofill fields like credit card forms, addresses, passwords and more. Safari also nets virtual payment card integration via 1Password's collaboration with Privacy, a service that protects user information by creating single-use, 'virtual' card numbers for online shopping. A paid Privacy account is required, but 1Password customers can try the service free for three months.

Finally, the app receives a fresh makeover with new user interface elements like a retooled password generator and tweaked app icon.

1Password version 7.7 is a free upgrade for existing subscribers. New users can sign up for a one-month free trial through 1Password's website and the Mac App Store, though the update has not yet rolled out to the latter. Subscription pricing for individuals is set at $2.99 a month.
